Ó poboa guesthouse

The room was lovely, with nice linen, plenty of space, and a big bathroom. The metro is right across the street and a supermarket is just down the road. We ran into some trouble communicating about check-in, but it was sorted out. We also emailed to ask for the Wi-Fi password and never got a reply. Even so, we'd definitely recommend the place.

We had a well-equipped room with a huge bathroom, even though the larger house looks a bit like a hostel. It was spotless, and the staff made us feel very welcome. The place is on the main street, a short walk from the town's main waterfront area with all its bars and restaurants. We parked at the train station nearby, where parking was free, and it took less than a minute to walk back. Perfect for our one-night stay.

Joana was wonderful and answered all my questions, from how the combination locks work to where to find the Wi-Fi password. I arrived three hours before check-in while the rooms were still being cleaned, and she let me leave my backpack in storage while I went to lunch. The password is posted just outside the room door. To get in, enter the code they send you, pull the door, then push it. I came to Povoa do Varzim for two days of rest after walking the Caminho Portugues. The guest house is right across the street from the train station, and a ticket to Porto cost 3.6 Euros. The rooms were clean and modern, with big windows and lots of light. There’s a shared kitchen, and bicycles, backpacks, and umbrellas can be stored on the first floor. A fridge has supplies available for a fee, listed on the inventory page. About one hundred meters south are a supermarket and laundromat. The town also has plenty to do and very good restaurants. Great location.

The management were so friendly, and breakfast was hearty. Set in a historic building, the guesthouse has beautifully decorated rooms and good facilities. The location is good too. Probably the best choice in Povoa de Varzim.
