Quinta dos Cochichos

We were after quiet evenings in the countryside rather than nightlife, and Quinta dos Cochichos suited us perfectly. It’s a little off the beaten track, but shops and restaurants in Olhaho, the island beaches of Culatra and Armona, and even Faro and other parts of the west Algarve are easy to reach by car in 10 to 15 minutes. The N125 and A22 are nearby. There are two other apartments or houses for two more families, but the place never felt crowded. Our family of four, with kids aged 8 and 13, had two wonderful, relaxing weeks here. Paula and Mark were excellent hosts and made booking, arrival, the stay and departure hassle-free. They communicated well throughout and were always very helpful. We stayed in Casa do Figo, a clean, spacious house with two bathrooms, handy with a teenage daughter. It’s well equipped for self-catering, with a BBQ and beach towels. The pictures on the website give a good idea of the houses and surroundings. The kids loved the pool area, with loungers, umbrellas, a hammock and a small diving board, plus a sauna if the Algarve heat somehow feels too cold. We enjoyed sitting on our porch in the evenings and sampling regional wines. We’d happily stay again and recommend this place.

You get a simple place to stay on a fantastic farm, tucked into the countryside about 5 minutes by car from Olhão. It’s welcoming and peaceful, with good energy and a host who’s always available. Excellent value for money. Definitely recommend...👌

There was no oven, and there wasn’t a living room to sit in. Internet in the apartment we rented was limited, and the TV had Portuguese channels only. The wall between us and the next apartment was so thin we could hear everything. Also, the upstairs railing wasn’t safe.

A cosy, beautiful place, with warm and welcoming owners who had great ideas for day trips.
