We stayed in August, and I’m sorry this review took so long. The hotel is full of history and tradition, very welcoming, and just five minutes from Régua, with vineyards all around adding to the views. It’s a family-run place, and the staff were always friendly and ready to help. We especially want to thank João, who made our stay unforgettable. As soon as we arrived, he came over to our car and offered to help with the bags. He also made sure we knew about all the activities available at the hotel. During check-in, he explained the region and its range of wines, which I recommend trying, and we were offered a tasting. He helped us with our bags and anything else we needed in the room. The next day, we had a wonderful dinner cooked by chef Marlene with dear Isabel’s help, followed by a fantastic breakfast from the morning team. We took João’s suggestion and joined the wine tasting. I really recommend doing it. He gave a detailed explanation of the whole region, from grape treading through to bottling. You can tell the place and its traditions are in his blood, and he made the experience especially enjoyable. It was surprising to see so much knowledge in such a young man. Congratulations, João! I definitely recommend visiting and doing a tasting with him.

The wine was genuinely outstanding, and the hotel is a beautiful, intimate rural retreat in a stunning setting. Breakfast was great, and parking was easy. We only missed out on the pool because of the weather, so we’ll have to come back. Helena greeted us, arranged everything over WhatsApp before we arrived, and saw us off at the end. She was so welcoming and friendly. We also really enjoyed the tasting with João, from the family that owns the property. He took time to explain the wines and the Douro Valley, adding helpful details throughout. Chef Marlene made an amazing dinner. When we asked to have the 2010 grand reserva red wine with it, the winemaker himself came to open the bottle and tell us a little about it.

We had a great stay and hope to come back soon. The staff were amazing, and our room, number 6, was beautiful with stylish furnishings. Breakfast was excellent, served in a wonderful atmosphere with beautiful pottery all around. There was more variety than we could eat, and the quality was excellent. Even the gluten-free options were delicious. The infinity pool and its stunning view over the valley were more than we expected. A 10 out of 10 location among the lovely Douro vineyards!

We only had two nights here, and would love to return sometime. The food was a highlight, made with a lot of care and paired with good wines. We had a wonderful stay. The Douro valley itself is beautiful and has plenty to offer, from hiking and wine to lovely scenery or simply relaxing.

We arrived later than planned, close to dinner time, but the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as they welcomed us and showed us around. They served a great Porto Tonic before an amazing dinner cooked in their kitchen. We got to see and chat with the Portuguese ladies preparing the meal. It was the best fish I had on this trip to Portugal. Pedro, the owner, joined us at dinner and shared some of the property’s history, along with wine and driving recommendations. Every detail felt just right. The wine selection was great, and all the rooms were beautifully decorated. Breakfast was incredible, with excellent bread and delicious homemade yoghurt. We even picked cherries straight from the trees. The room was spacious and comfortable. I wish we’d stayed at least two nights.
