Casas do Prior

Right in the middle of the village, beside the church, this hotel has roomy bedrooms and a sitting room and kitchen guests can use. The village is very quiet and looks out over the mountains, which makes it a good choice for families. Parking is a little limited.

The house was spacious, comfortable, and really clean. Hot water came through quickly at both the taps and shower. But one of the bathroom basins was blocked, and there was no notice about it. I thought that was really poor. Whoever cleaning noticed should have told the person in charge, or the person in charge should have dealt with it after being told. There’s also water leaking from the shower cabin onto the outside floor. It needs sealing before someone slips and gets hurt. The mattress could have been more comfortable, and the Wi-Fi showed full bars but was slow. Mobile signal was only around 4G at best and weak, so even uploading a photo was a pain. The only fairly nearby restaurant I’d recommend is Restaurante Cruzeiro. Breakfast was just okay. We booked two nights as a couple, but the fridge had only two small bottles of juice and two yogurts, so day two would have meant a serious diet. There was no milk either. I also really disliked finding an open pack of toast in the cupboard. A cheap clip to close the bag would help. There was plenty of food, but it was all fattening and the essentials were missing.

I ended up with the house to myself and my daughter, and we got to enjoy complete peace and quiet. The staff were very friendly and ready to help. The rooms are large and comfortable, with everything we needed to rest and sleep peacefully. The breakfast was simple, but had the essentials. I warmly recommend staying at Casas do Prior and enjoying the lovely village of Trevões and its fantastic scenery. Wonderful, in a word.

A pleasant place to stay, and breakfast is included. A few things could be better: there should be more towels since there’s no room service, and the duvet cover was put on with the opening facing up. The pillows are awful, and the mattress is much too soft.
