The owners were wonderful, and breakfast was fresh, if simple. The location is ideal for walking around velas and getting to the ferry on foot, though parking was hard to find. We stayed for 10 days, took day trips to Faial and Pico, and drove only 3 days to see the island. We’ve already planned to come back soon.

The staff were super nice and honest, and breakfast was very good for the price. The room was small but had good air conditioning. It’s basically in the center of Velas, five minutes from the boat and on a major road, yet the rooms face inward and were completely quiet. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but hospedaria austrália beat it.

The hotel was accommodating and good, but the food was disappointing. Breakfast had no vegetables or much of anything healthy. At dinner we had two glasses of mediocre wine, three small slices of fresh cheese, and pizzas that weren’t tasty and seemed possibly to have been frozen before serving. The bill was over 50 EUR, the most expensive restaurant during our 10-days stat for what we ate, and also the least delicious. Dining choices in Velas overall were very unsatisfactory.

The location was great, close to the main parts of town, and the staff and owners were really friendly and ready to help. Our room was a good size, with a nice, spacious bathroom and very good natural light.
