It’s a great place overall, well built and in a quiet spot just outside town, with enough parking and a clear view of Mt Pico up the driveway. A few small things were frustrating during our week: it was hard and slow to reach reception, and being given just one or two dishwasher and laundry detergent capsules at a time felt petty. The hand towel rail was upside down, so towels slid off, and the shower temperature was tricky to set, right on the edge of turning cold, meaning we had to reset it all over again. These are minor issues and should be easy to fix. Still, a great choice.

The cottages are lovely, practical, and have everything you need. The whole place feels polished and charming, and it’s quiet, with an ocean view from the entrance. They also let us check in very early and check out late, which made the stay perfect. The hostess was awesome.

The stone house was spotless and well looked after, with a fully equipped kitchen and a front porch that had a stone table and chairs under a sun umbrella. The ocean view from there was amazing, and parking was plentiful and free. It’s a quiet spot up the hill, but still an easy walk into the center of São Roque. Our host was so friendly and happy to help with any request. We’d definitely come back.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the room was clean and had everything we needed. It’s a good choice for couples and families. If you’re without a car, though, I’d suggest Madelna, which is more accessible than Sao Rouque.
