TURIM Club d'Azeitao Hotel

The hotel is about 15 minutes from the center of Setubal, and it has parking, a pool, and a tennis court. Breakfast was good, with a decent choice of quality products, even if it wasn’t a huge buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom is old and needs refreshing. Even so, the hotel was worth the price, and I recommend it.

We had a great stay, just as expected. The staff were welcoming, polite, and helpful. We’ll definitely come back.

The property has plenty of potential, and I enjoyed the quiet since there didn’t seem to be many other guests. The pool is nice, though the climb up the hill to reach it gives you a workout. There were goats in the field, oddly soothing to watch. The nearby trails are beautiful but not well marked, so check before heading out. They also let me check out 30 minutes late despite a wedding booked that day, which I appreciated. The rewards card gave me a decent room discount. Still, I’d look elsewhere first if I return to the region. My room was large, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked well, though it was a bit noisy. I liked the tiles and decorative ceramic sink, but the shower was basic. One chair had a tear in the seat, the rug under the bed had a large dark stain, and the TV remote was sticky. Housekeeping took half the towels away and didn’t bring them back. Mini bar prices were high, 3.50 for a small bottle of water, though there’s a grocery store down the street. Service was polite but never went the extra mile. The receptionist didn’t offer help with my luggage. Some friends and family who met me on the patio said staff refused to serve them coffee and weren’t polite about it. I’m told the manager got involved but wasn’t helpful either. At reception there was confusion about whether I should pay up front or at the end. In the end, the receptionist said it was up to me and showed me to my room, mentioning the bar but little else about the hotel. I asked about laundry just before noon after a run, as I was checking out at noon the next day. They said it wasn’t possible, although the information sheet said same-day laundry was available for an extra fee. The decor and furniture are dated, and the narrow hallways had worn carpeting and wallpaper. It had a distinct colonial feel, like its glory days were long ago. I didn’t eat at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food.

The bathroom in my room is so low I can’t stand up straight, and I’m just over six feet tall. It must be the Harry Potter room. The internet doesn’t reach, and the television isn’t working. They said they’d hopefully fix it tomorrow. Service hasn’t impressed me, and even though the hotel isn’t fully booked, they wouldn’t move me to another room. I’m not looking forward to five more nights here.
