The garden at Chalet Saudade became one of our favorite places to unwind. We spent evenings there with wine, enjoying the quiet and the chalet’s old-world feel, and chatting with other travelers. Our room was spotless and lovely, the bed gave us some of our best sleep on the trip, and the air conditioning was great after long days out. Caterina and Filipa made us feel at home from the start of our 7-night stay. They were warm and thoughtful, helped with reservations, shared useful local tips, and made sure we had what we needed. Caterina’s kindness and attention especially stayed with me. The rest of the staff were wonderful too. The location made getting around easy: attractions, the station, and several good restaurants were all about a 5-10 minute walk away. And don’t miss Café Saudade. The breakfast was fresh, delicious, generous, and far more than I’d expect from something called continental. The coffee was a lovely start to the day. My wife and I even asked them to bring us less because there was so much. Chalet Saudade was a highlight of our Portugal trip. It feels like a welcoming base for exploring Sintra, with lovely grounds, historic charm, great food, and kind people. We’ll recommend it and hope to return.

We walked from the train station to this lovely guest house with our big rolling bags, and it was an easy trip. Restaurants are close by, and the station and bus stop are convenient too. The historic centre is about a relaxed 10-15 minute walk. We stayed for 3 nights in gorgeous Sintra, but I’d make it 4 next time so we could see more at a slower pace. There are so many great places to visit.

Getting to the city centre or the train and bus station is an easy walk, and their suggestions for what to do were really helpful. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, and the rooms were great, with views over the garden and Sintra. Breakfast at their cafe is huge. It costs extra, but I think it’s well worth it if you want it.

We liked having the chalet near Sintra’s main sights but a little away from the busiest tourist spots, so it was walkable without all the noise. The suite was roomy, comfortable, and clean, and the staff were welcoming and ready to answer our questions. The setting feels peaceful and memorable, with a romantic garden, elegant décor, and beautiful vintage character. Breakfast at Café Saudad, served nearby, was excellent and nicely presented.

They moved us up from the small room to one on the main floor for free, which was really kind. With the warm service, great facilities, and complimentary port wine, this was one of my favorite places to stay in Sintra. I’d definitely consider coming back on another visit.
