Lanui Guest House

I’m staying here now and found bed bugs in the bed. This is a serious hygiene and professionalism failure, and a threat to my health and guests’ well-being. I’ve been trying desperately to get someone at the hotel to address it, but nobody is on the property and no one answers the phone. That lack of response is inexcusable.

For 50€ for two, it’s a good option, and thanks for the breakfast. The hostess replied very quickly when we asked how to get into the hotel. It’s clean and cozy, though the doors are thin, so you have to keep quiet to avoid disturbing others. There are just two showers for 11 rooms. The location is good too, with a bus stop two minutes away and buses to Pena palace.

We stayed for a week in the small Capuchos bunk room, and it was a peaceful, clean place to come back to after going out to different places each day. It’s simple rather than fancy, but has what you need. Barbara was always kind and polite, checked that we had everything, and kept the place clean. There’s one shower on each floor, with better water pressure on the 1st floor. Breakfast is basic guest house fare: bread and ham choices, boiled eggs, sometimes corn cake, tea, coffee, orange juice, croissants and jam. The old town restaurants and bars are a short walk away, and free parking near the city municipality is 5-7 minutes on foot. Parking by the guest house is free from 8pm to 9am. A fabulous budget stay.

We had a cozy, calm stay in this lovely, clean old house. Check-in was clearly explained and easy, and the hosts were helpful, accommodating and very nice. Breakfast is included and pretty good. There are two full bathrooms plus a little toilet and sink room, shared among all the guests. The only downside is the poor soundproofing, which makes sense in an old house.
