We had a lovely two-day stay in Room #3. The beds were so comfy, like sleeping on a marshmallow, and the street was quiet. The building looks aged from outside, but the inside has been completely renovated. The shared toilets have fancy bidets, and the location is great. Try the Thai restaurant nearby, it’s delicious. The room was clean when I arrived, and the location was convenient. But the bed was impossible to rest on, with a dip in the mattress, no proper support, and a flimsy slatted base. Because of my medical condition, I had to leave without spending the night. When I raised it with the host, the response felt unprofessional and accusatory, including false claims about my intentions. I got no empathy, just an aggressive attitude that showed complete disregard for customer care. I wouldn’t support a business with service that awful.

The hosts were pleasant to deal with and quick to answer questions. They also graciously let us leave our bags on site after checkout while we explored on our last day. It’s excellent value, within walking distance of lots of good restaurants and a short walk from the public buses that go to the castles. We’d stay here again!

The landlady is wonderful, though she speaks very little English, so be ready to learn at least a little Portuguese. Her son runs the place and speaks good English. He’s incredibly friendly and helpful. The accommodation is basic but spacious, comfortable, and really clean. It’s well placed for central Sintra, close to the train station and not far from the palace. Excellent value, especially if you’re on a budget.
