Villa Branca Jacinta

The place was very clean, but the price didn’t feel justified. We had been deciding between this guesthouse and a nearby hotel, and ended up disappointed with our choice. I wish I’d checked the Google reviews sooner, since some of them are quite revealing. After a long flight, we arrived in the evening and then had to sit through a 20-minute explanation of the rules, including how to open the door properly and pour tea without spilling. There were too many rules, and the onboarding took far too long. At checkout, they asked us without warning to leave earlier than the booking details said. Those said checkout was between 10-11, and we had to negotiate to leave at the time we’d originally planned. It felt more like staying at a relative’s house than a hotel. They started vacuuming around 9-10 in the morning and kept track of when we went out and came back.
