The room was spotless and thoughtfully put together, and I really appreciated the quality materials. The woman who looked after housekeeping and breakfast was especially kind and helpful. I wish I’d had cash to leave her a tip. Getting there is the hard part. The access road is a narrow, bumpy track, and since going back out for food or a quick trip to town isn’t convenient, I’d bring groceries. The hotel has a kitchen, which helps. The river setting is lovely and quiet, though, and the views are beautiful. Breakfast felt very basic, especially the coffee, which came from a simple capsule machine. A better coffee setup would be welcome. The pool is small, with room for about three people to use it comfortably, and there’s no restaurant or bar. A little café area with drinks or simple meals would make a big difference. Given the road, paid scooter or small motorbike rentals might also help guests get around. And with the river right there, canoes or paddle boards would be a nice addition. I stayed for a weekend and came away with mixed feelings. It’s a peaceful spot, but a few practical additions could make the stay much better.

We had such a lovely time here. The spa was clean and cozy, and the hotel itself feels modern, comfortable, and a little different. A great spot for a romantic stay with someone you love.

A quiet, romantic place surrounded by nature, and a lovely choice for a relaxing stay. The staff are always ready to help and give great service. Breakfast is simple but filling. The modern boutique-style hotel sits by the Duro River, with a pool, jacuzzi, a large lounge and dining room, plus a self-service kitchen. Hanna and Boaz, May 2023.

We chose Douro Green for our wedding and spent a week there with family. I’m so glad we did. Between the river views and sunshine from the pool or the riverside hammocks, it’s a beautiful setting. The flowers were lovely, with white and purple blooms against all the shades of green. Our rooms had the quality, comfort, and river views we wanted, and the modern interior had consistent design and good furnishings. Andreai took care of so much for our group, far beyond what we expected. She arranged catering, servers, flowers, a cake, transportation, and a photographer, all excellent and at no extra charge. She also organized vineyard tours and boat trips for our guests. After a car accident, we called her at nine in the evening. She came to the hospital, translated for us, and drove us home at 1 a.m. The place and the service almost seemed too good to be true.

A really cozy place with lovely views from the room and all around, and the staff are kind and helpful. It’s easy to switch off here, and the facilities are great. One thing to plan for: if you’re staying in all day, bring snacks or food. There’s only breakfast, and food places are about 30 minutes away. That was my only downside, as I would’ve liked some food options on site.
