Hortas De Baixo Luz De Tavira

We’ve just spent eight wonderful days at Hortas de Baixo, and we’re truly sad to leave. The villa and grounds were the perfect place for our Ukrainian Scottish family to relax, have fun, and connect. Maria and Jorge welcomed us warmly and personally showed us around on arrival. We didn’t meet Antonio in person, but he was always just a WhatsApp message away with clear, concise instructions. Their care and attention surprised us and made us feel at home. The villa is beautifully maintained, with thoughtful fittings, furniture, and little touches that made it comfortable. The kitchen had everything our family of keen cooks could want, and nothing was missing. The garden BBQ was well equipped with the right utensils, and we used it regularly. The clear, carefully salted pool was always inviting for a cool dip, some relaxing, or fun with the kids. Surrounded by orange, lemon, and pomegranate trees, the place felt blissful, almost spiritual, like a little paradise tucked away from the world. I also have to mention Princess Leia, the peaceful older dog and four-legged superstar. Our three kids didn’t bother her, and she was completely unruffled by our arrival. She was perfectly behaved and kept to herself unless invited over. The kids even learned a little Portuguese with her, and she gave us some lovely responses to “sit down” and “give paw.” “Bark,” or anything like that, clearly wasn’t in her vocabulary. She seemed to know her role as the villa’s gentle guardian. We’d read that the beds might be a little firm. Some people may feel that way, but we still slept peacefully. We’d also seen comments about farm machinery in the mornings. We could hear it on some days, but it was never intrusive. The gentle hum of life beginning nearby felt like a natural nudge to step outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings just a few footsteps away. Local supermarkets were a short drive away and had everything we needed, so we wanted for nothing. Maria, Jorge, and Antonio have created something very special here. We can’t recommend Hortas de Baixo highly enough and hope to return.
