We were there, and there were bed bugs that affected our hike. You told us to avoid a certain part of the grounds near the pool because it belonged to the neighbors, and said their dog was friendly but would bark. We even discussed it in a Whatsapp chat. It’s disappointing to leave a poor review and have you claim we weren’t there, lie about it, and then block us. Please clean the rooms better. Thanks.
Casa do Adro had thoughtful touches everywhere, from the garden with its ocean view and pool to the premade frozen meals, which were surprisingly tasty and handy when I was too tired to cook or go out. The whole hostel was very clean, and its location right on the Camino was so convenient. In the shared dorm, the curtained individual "boxes" gave a nice feeling of privacy, and the stairs made the top bunks easy to reach. The staff welcomed me warmly and were really helpful from the moment I arrived. Casa do Adro was the best hotel I visited on the Camino.
Paulo was a gem, quick and thorough in his messages and clearly proud of making guests feel comfortable. I stayed at Casa do Adro in Carreço, Viana do Castelo, and found it a lovely, welcoming base, whether for a short stop or a longer getaway. The outdoor pool was especially inviting at a warm 26°C, and the cosy beds made for a restful night. Carreço Beach is only a 1.2 km walk away, with Montedor Lighthouse nearby, making this a great place to enjoy northern Portugal’s natural beauty. The balance of comfort, hospitality and location made for a fantastic stay.
The place had a really nice vibe, but we found bed bugs in the private room. Watch out.
The gardens and refreshing pool made it easy to unwind, and the private beds were comfortable for a good night’s sleep. We felt at home as soon as we arrived, thanks to the friendly welcome at reception. Just back from a wonderful stay at Casa do Adro and already looking forward to going again.
