The room sizes are generous, and some have balconies. We loved our room’s theme, and the hotel is quiet, with an easy walk into town or to the river. The staff are wonderfully friendly, check-in and check-out are kind and efficient, and housekeeping goes above and beyond. If they know you’re waiting, they come tell you when your room is ready. Breakfast is AMAZING, a big plate of treats with fresh orange juice and coffee or tea. You can also order bacon, eggs cooked your way, or oatmeal at no extra cost. The museum is fun, creative, and interesting, and the gift store is delicious! Who wouldn’t want to stay in a Chocolate Factory?

I picked up a few chocolate bars and boxes at Fábrica do Chocolate in Viana do Castelo. The staff were very polite, and the chocolate was rich and full of flavor. I highly recommend it!

The rooms were clean, the service was excellent, and even the toiletries had a chocolate theme. Breakfast was good, and the stay included a chocolate product voucher and a museum visit.

Each room has its own character and style, so the stay feels personal. There are nice extras too, including discounts on food and merchandise and 25% off a future stay, which makes it good value. The hotel was one of Portugal’s first chocolate factories, and the food is fresh and delicious. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the service really stands out. A great place to stay.

Staying in a former chocolate factory was a fun new experience. Our two-story room had a little sitting area downstairs and a small bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Breakfast was excellent: a huge tray of cakes, meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit, pancakes, and chocolate for dipping, plus a menu with eggs, bacon, and plenty of other choices. You’ve got to try the hot chocolate at least once. It’s dark, rich, and thick. The nightly cost was very reasonable, and the area is easy to explore on foot. Parking on the narrow cobblestone street was tricky; we found a good spot and didn’t risk moving the car. When we needed to go farther, Uber was very inexpensive. All in all, I’d recommend the experience.
