Casa da Choqueira

The pool was a real highlight, clean and inviting, with chairs, umbrellas, and a small changing room nearby. We also enjoyed the rural feel, the hygiene, and the comfort, and the service was friendly and helpful. The room furniture was old, as expected, but not very practical. Drawers stuck, some cupboards were held shut with tape, and a piece of card was wedged against one cupboard door to keep it closed. The bed was short and made a lot of noise. Breakfast was much better on our first morning than on the second. At 9:00 on day one, a generous spread with lots of choice was already out, beyond what we’d expected. The next day, there was nothing on the table at 9:15, so we waited and didn’t finish until 10:30. That really gets in the way if you want to make the most of the day. Food came out gradually, in smaller amounts and with less variety; we had to ask for things we’d enjoyed the day before, though they brought them when we asked. With more guests there, the food ran out quickly because there wasn’t enough of it. We’d still like to come back. I think the next stay could be even better, and hopefully feel worthy of five stars.

The breakfasts Dona Júlia serves are fantastic, and the natural surroundings make it feel very peaceful. It’s a welcoming house in a wonderful spot, a lovely choice for a weekend or a few days away to relax and forget the daily routine. I recommend it.

The pool is amazing, and the room was spacious with a very nice bathroom. The location is very good and the facilities are good too. Breakfast was acceptable, and the staff were really friendly. A great place to spend a few days in Gerês.

We really liked the location and how welcoming everyone was. The pool has a stunning view, and there’s a great outdoor area for children. Everyone was very helpful. Would come back!
