Quinta Casa da Fonte

There's a 14 km round-trip walking trail from just outside the house to a viewpoint, and Vieira do Minho is only five minutes away with Lidl and Pingo Doce supermarkets. The restored stone and wood home has huge rooms and good mattresses, though the pillows are a bit lacking, so I'd bring my own. The kitchen and bathrooms have what you need, but bring shower gel. There's central heating, a children's playroom, swimming pools, and Wi-Fi. A lovely place to unwind and enjoy nature with friends.

I loved Tuga and Shine, the dogs, and the bedroom was exceptional. The typical house has been beautifully restored, with a cozy, family atmosphere and a calm rural setting. Nearly everything was excellent. A few details made the welcome less than perfect: the road to the property is very narrow and a car barely fits, breakfast was ordinary and had no toast, and the rooms had no hairdryer, air conditioning, or fan. It was so hot that I couldn't get truly restful nights.

We spent a few days here and would recommend it. The owners are Dutch and Portuguese, and they welcomed us warmly when we arrived along the narrow access path. We enjoyed the pool, and in the evening we could stay for dinner, sharing a delicious meal around one large table. Later, sitting on the balcony and looking at the stars was lovely.

I had a relaxing, refreshing stay, a lovely way to clear your head before starting a new work week. The large room was spotless and rustic with a modern touch, and the bed was super comfortable. The bathtub was a good size, the service was first-rate, and the balcony looked out onto nature. Thank you, Quinta Casa da Fonte. If you go, ask them to show you the chapel!
