The rooms are simply furnished but have what you need, and the pool looking out over the mountains is a lovely place to spend time. We also enjoyed the tasty breakfast and the owner’s warm, attentive hospitality. Casa da Gaitera is in a charming village in the Geres region, close to lots of scenic hiking trails. It’s a peaceful, thoughtfully kept place. We were welcomed so warmly and had a wonderful five-day stay. I’d happily recommend it; it exceeded all our expectations.

The room was clean, the breakfast was very good, and sra.Ana was so kind. Plenty of good things made it a spectacular weekend, and I’m sure I’ll visit casa da gaiteira again. Getting there is the downside. I’d avoid going through the village because the streets are very narrow, and a wide car may not fit. The wi-fi doesn’t reach every room, though having wi-fi at all is a bonus.

We came by motorcycle, and the woman who welcomed us was super friendly and flexible about letting us leave our things and pick them up after check-out. Thanks so much for the hospitality. The restored house has lots of space to relax, and the pool is inviting both in the morning and at sunset. I’d gladly repeat the experience.

The views are picture-perfect, and the room and bathroom were perfectly adequate. Breakfast was homemade, varied, and plentiful. Mrs. Ana was kind and pleasant, and I’d definitely return for another restful break. And do buy the honey, it’s exquisite.
