The old country house has lots of charm, furnished with period pieces. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed comfortable. After walking all day in pouring rain, we arrived wet and bedraggled and got a warm, friendly welcome from Ana & Monica. We accepted their offer of a home-cooked evening meal, which was fabulous, especially with the delicious dessert and a glass of Port. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying nearby.

The food was the highlight for me at Quinta de São Roque - Turismo de Habitação. The chefs preserve traditional Portuguese flavors, and the on-site meals felt like a real celebration of the country's cuisine, from Bacalhau à Brás to plenty of other dishes. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly too. The property has a rich history and old-world charm throughout, making it a memorable way to experience Portugal's past and present.

Our room was “María”; it had a fridge and a coffee maker if you wanted to use them. The Vilanova Saturday Market is a 10-minute walk away. The place feels peaceful and welcoming, with a lawn to stroll around and a swimming pool. Everything was very clean, and the manager was delightful. It’s a country house where they’ve paid attention to every detail.
