Bairro do Casal - Turismo d'Aldeia

The house was easy to book with a friendly call to the owner. We stopped in Murça for a night during a short trip to northern Portugal. In winter, the constant fog and white frost made everything look beautiful and misty. The house had all the essentials and a fireplace, so it was lovely to stay in for the evening. There’s a pool for summer, too.

I was struck by how beautiful everything was. The owner has turned the old houses into distinctive, comfortable places to stay, with a lot of care and thought. I’d happily return and spend longer if I get the chance.

The whole place is gorgeous, tucked into nature, and the houses are cute and really well kept. The interiors are lovely, breakfast is prepared with so much care, and there’s a good range of wine. Anabela was an INCREDIBLE host, so kind, funny, supportive, loving and smart. I LOVED IT and will definitely come back. March is ideal for seeing AMENDOEIRAS :)

The restored village stone houses have been done with care, and there’s great local food at low prices available at reception. We enjoyed the pool, with its view over the village and mountains. The only problem is there’s no restaurant. It’s a good base for visiting Douro Valley, or just for a few quiet days. Wow, every detail impressed.
