Douro & Sea - Charming Apartment

The apartment looks like the photos, but I wouldn't recommend it for a long stay. The shopping centers nearby are good, but the appliances and utensils are very cheap, and everything feels old. The layout is poor, the ceiling is very low, and the balcony is so narrow it can't be used as a lounge area. Its low railings also feel unsafe. The windows face the farm and neighboring houses; animals and birds start making noise at 4 am and kept me from sleeping. Planes pass over the house on their landing route, and it's quite noisy. Soundproofing is poor too, so you can hear the neighbors and their many dogs. There's no hanger in the hallway or bathroom, and nowhere to hang towels. The sink is small and awkward. Hot water comes from a gas heater, but the old boiler is inconvenient and the heating keeps switching off. The stove is very strange. Locked metal cabinets belonging to the owner take up a lot of room in the hall and kitchen and can't be used. The bedroom bedside tables aren't functional, and the mattress is uncomfortable enough to leave my back hurting. There was dirt under the bed, the cleaning provided wasn't very thorough, and the towels smelled unpleasant. When the kitchen table is set up, there's no room to move around the kitchen. There's no kettle or air conditioning, making it impossible to stay in the apartment during the day. The large room has a very narrow, uncomfortable sofa that's unusable, and the appliances include a very old TV. The hostess is friendly until you have a question about the rent; then it's impossible to discuss things with her. The door uses an automatic lock, so forgetting your key causes problems. It's a long way to the ocean through the private sector, and there aren't any decent restaurants nearby, only by the ocean.
