Casa do Adro

The chocolate cake to take home was the perfect finishing touch. Our stay at Casa do Adro was fantastic, with lovely staff and an owner who gave excellent service. They were dedicated and present for their guests, and we felt cared for and spoiled.

The house is spacious and beautiful, with two terraces and plenty of privacy. Mrs. Idalia lives downstairs, while the guest rooms are upstairs, with a separate entrance available until a certain time. The room was spotless, and they even left disposable slippers. Breakfast was outstanding, generous and varied, freshly prepared each morning with fruit, eggs and bacon, toast, jams, yogurt, cereal, and more. Mrs. Idalia welcomed us warmly, made sure we had what we needed, and surprised us with tea and delicious chocolate cake. I’d wondered if the reviews were exaggerated, but I have to admit this was one of my best hospitality experiences. In my opinion, the guesthouse offers service on par with a 5-star hotel. I couldn’t find a single flaw, and I’ll definitely return.

We were welcomed with a free glass of cold, fresh orange juice and chocolate cake in the room, and the breakfasts were enormous. The staff were so warm and welcoming, and the location was wonderful, right in the centre and just minutes from the beaches. This was the best place we stayed all week. Highly, highly recommend.

The terrace breakfasts were magical, served on beautiful Portuguese porcelain with so much care. Casa do Adro is an authentic, character-filled house in the heart of Vila Nova de Milfontes, yet it’s perfectly quiet. The lovely woman who runs it has a rare gift for hospitality. I felt welcome right away, greeted with a warm cup of tea and delicious homemade chocolate cake. Staying here felt like being at home, and the experience is one I won’t forget. It captures the soul of Portugal: warm, authentic, and unforgettable. A true gem.
