We first stayed at the Solar in 2011 on our honeymoon, then came back nearly a decade later with our kids. Nothing had changed, or had only changed for the better. Since then we’ve been back almost every year and start our summer holidays in magical Vila Viçosa here. It’s our favourite hotel in Alentejo, with a great location, good value for money, and wonderful hosts. We can only recommend it.

The hotel was lovely and quiet, with cozy rooms, a comfortable mattress and pillows, and a delicious breakfast with lots of choice. There was beautiful art all around and a lovely tea room. The staff were really friendly.

A very nice ambience, with elegant sculptures around the common areas, many of them for sale. The rooms were great, and there was a nice pool and a free tea and coffee table. It’s a lovely hotel with very friendly service.
