If you're not looking to party all night, I wouldn't stay here. People kept playing music in the outdoor area until 5:00 AM, which made sleeping hard. The bed was really uncomfortable, and breakfast was exactly two pieces of toast, one small piece of cake, and one fruit. The staff weren't very helpful either, and nobody took the initiative to ask for the music to be turned off. Maybe being called a "Hostal" lets places like this get away with bad service. You can find much better service elsewhere for the same price.

It's in a central spot, close to shopping mall and Costanera (river walk), with bus routes to the airport. The hostel is clean, the staff and owner are friendly, and the owner is professional too. There's a nice pool to cool off in the searing Asuncion heat. Fantastic hostel.

The kitchen was dirty and poorly equipped for cooking. There wasn't even a toaster, and the burner was in bad shape. People in the dormitory were extremely noisy and didn't sleep. I left my bread in the freezer, but someone took it out.

My worst hostel stay ever. The music was incredibly loud all night, literally, and the staff said that's normal because it's a hostel. The AC didn't work, and neither did the fan or the second fan. Then the toilet water tank fell from above my head, missing me by inches, and water from the broken pipe flooded the whole bathroom. The room cost 25 usd, the hostel experience was priceless. I don't recommend it.

For young travelers wanting to meet people in Asunción, this is a good place to stay. It has what you'd hope for in a hostel: a central location, free breakfast, and friendly staff who even speak english, which is rare in South America. I had a good stay and can recommend El Viajero to other young travelers.
