Hotel Excelsior Inn

The room was clean, with a comfortable bed, a good shower, plenty of lights, and really fast Wi-Fi. The staff were nice, and the entrance and lobby are beautiful.

Breakfast was the one good thing here. The lobby is in decent shape, but the rooms are awful compared with the photos and look so old they put you off staying. The floors, windows, and bathroom were dirty, and the air conditioners were loud. The bathtub is small, too. The pool was especially bad, with water that wasn’t clean enough, broken accessories, and a generally neglected feel. The hotel is in a very dirty part of the old city. It doesn’t even measure up to three stars. If you want to ruin your mood, this is the hotel for you.

I only needed the room for one night. I arrived at 2am and the receptionist offered to start my reservation then, for the new day and following night. I thanked him for that, and understood my payment covered the 13th to the 14th. I wouldn’t have left my belongings there otherwise. The next day, the shift manager changed the arrangement and told me to move my things by 10:30pm. When I returned, the original receptionist had deactivated my key, so I couldn’t get my belongings without paying for another day. I tried to explain that a company should honor what it offered, but they charged me half a night for time I had never planned to use.

This used to be a great hotel, but it’s completely run down now. If you don’t need to stay downtown, Villa Morra has much better options.
