We’d stayed at the Hassler Hotel before, but this was the last time. We’ve been to many hotels, and this was the worst experience. Our room was nice, but the walls were very thin. The neighbors made noise all day: loud TV, screaming children, and adults yelling because they couldn’t hear each other over the TV. We could hear every word, as if they were in bed with us. Hard to sleep with children screaming at what sounded like at least 80 decibels. Booking.com says pets aren’t allowed at Hassler, but these noisy guests had a barking dog. The racket went on, and we asked a few times for them to quiet down. At 11:45 PM, the children were still screaming and banging on the walls. I went angrily to the front desk, and they said they’d find a solution. When I got back, my wife told me the neighbors had banged on the wall, so I hit the door with my fist. Instead of solving the problem and quieting things down, the staff offered us another room that was dirty, with mold on the couch. They said it would take at least an hour and a half to clean it. Their other suggestion was to call the police for us. 🙄🙄 Other guests outside said the same people were disturbing them too, but Hassler staff ignored them and seemed to take the troublemakers’ side. The loud TV and noise went on for half the night. 🤬🤬🤬 At 5:30 a.m., a phone alarm went off and the TV came back on. I have nothing against Paraguans who party, but in the middle of the week at a hotel where other guests were bothered too, this was unacceptable. We barely got three hours of sleep. Hassler, is this how you treat your customers? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

The dogs barking in the kitchen went on all morning, which felt pretty strange to me after how strict everyone was during the “pandemic.” Maybe it’s normal here, but dogs in a kitchen still seems wild. I did enjoy my night, though the checkout time was early.

At a very reasonable price, this could be a nice place to stay if it were cleaned up and fixed up a little more.

A good spot to sleep and spend a few days.
