Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel

The Moroccan bath was the one letdown. There was no steam at all, so it felt like an ordinary basic shower. The rest of my first weekend at Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel was very pleasant. Michel from Lebanon and Mohamed from Tunisia made check-in seamless, were friendly and professional, and arranged a late checkout. They made sure things went well throughout. The pool area was beautiful, and I enjoyed the drinks from Tulum. A kind, polite gentleman from Venezuela, whose name I unfortunately forgot, gave me a warm welcome. Jora took good care of me in the evening, and the lifeguard from the Philippines was helpful and kind too. At the spa, the two women, one African and one from Thailand, were welcoming, professional, and excellent at their work. Imene made checkout sweet. We had a lovely chat, and it was a nice end to the stay. Thanks to the whole team for the hospitality.

The room wasn't as modern as some others, but it was clean, and the customer service was excellent. We stayed with family and used the 30-hour package, which included lunch or dinner from a set menu and a great breakfast buffet. Beach access was included too, though there was no shuttle during our visit, so we drove ourselves. It was only a few minutes away. The pool was nice and kid-friendly, and there were lots of restaurants inside the hotel, with easy access to the city center. We'd definitely come back 💛

I was charged on 1 June, 12 days after receiving a cancellation email for my reservation on 20 May. I'd contacted the front desk because of an emergency and couldn't make the trip. Although the booking was non-refundable and I planned to pay at check-in, they told me they'd waive the rate and wished me a quick recovery. After the charge, I explained the whole situation to three people in reservations. They said they couldn't do anything and had no answer. I asked for a call back or at least a message from reception, but nobody contacted me. It's disappointing that Marriott didn't pass along my request and charged my card anyway. I've stayed with Marriott before, including outside Qatar, and didn't expect this after telling them I had an emergency. So disappointed.

The people at Cucina really made the trip for us. Isuru the manager has a great team, and Yeth understood what we needed and was incredibly helpful. Elaine was very accommodating too. Abdulah was an absolute legend, helping us with both arrival and checkout. Mohamed and Jehan at the front desk were welcoming and made everything easy. We felt very looked after.
