Blue Margouillat Seaview Hotel

The grounds were gorgeous, and the staff made us feel welcome and looked after. We spent just two days at Blue Margouillat at the end of our honeymoon, and now wish we’d stayed for the whole trip. It was so peaceful that we relaxed straight away, and the restaurant served one of the best meals of our lives. We can’t wait to come back.

The hotel is far from everything, which was fine for us, but it should work with tour and transport companies to give guests more options. The rooms were clean, though very small, and had few amenities for a five-star place. The staff were friendly but didn’t offer much help or information. Breakfast tasted good, but the portions were tiny. Also, room coffee costs extra once you’ve had two cups, which isn’t usual. The stay felt more like a three-star experience than a five-star one.

That homemade olive oil and vinegarette they gave us when we left was such a lovely touch. The hotel also helped us with our rental car and dropped us off to collect it. We loved the view from our room, and the whole place was beautiful. We stayed for the first three nights of our honeymoon, after our travel agent said the restaurant was the best on the island. The food still blew us away. It’s easily the best we’ve ever eaten, and probably ever will. The cheese cellar is really special and a must for cheese lovers. We hope to visit this special hotel again.

We told them we were vegan when we booked dinner, and they put together one of the best vegan meals we’ve ever had. Proper vegan gastronomy! The experience was even better with an “Accord sans alcool”, a special “mocktail” paired with each dish. Angelique, the barmaid and excellent mixologist, created unique drinks that brought out and highlighted each dish’s flavors.
