I’ll definitely return. This was a very pleasant surprise for Reunion, and I hope it stays that way. Check-in, check-out, and breakfast service were excellent, though dinner service fell short. The secluded setting is gorgeous by Reunion standards, but windy weather leaves you with little to do. My room had thoughtful details and lovely touches for a standard room, although somehow there wasn’t even a spoon by the coffee station.

Can’t wait to come back to the Wood. It’s an exquisite hotel, and that pool is the best one I’ve ever worked out in.

The sea-facing restaurant is long, and the new infrastructure is part of what you’re paying for, so it’s a pricey spot. I stopped for a drink as the sun was setting, and the Virgin colada was really yummy. Pick a day without much wind if you can, since there’s not much protection when you’re seated.

I’ve stayed here a few times, so it’s frustrating that the service slipped today. Paul took our order for 2 capucinos this afternoon, but they never arrived. After 25 minutes, I had to ask another waiter about them. Then we ordered 2 Tiramisus, only to be told 10 minutes later that none were left. As an international traveler, that consistency is what separates a good hotel from a great one. Don’t lose focus on service, Wood Hotel.
