Hotel Evergreen

I thought I’d get some peace and relaxation, but that didn’t happen. I’d have left on the first day if I hadn’t paid for all three days up front. This is a two-star hotel at most, despite charging four-star prices. I’m not a pretentious snob, but I’d avoid it and stay home. The lake in front of the hotel was extremely dirty and full of rubbish. The pool itself was good, but guests were cutting their toenails by its edge while employees just watched. Children who weren’t hotel guests filled the pool with noise, and staff said nothing. I understand letting outside visitors in for extra money, but hotel guests couldn’t enjoy the pool. You don’t pay four-star prices to feel like you’re at an ordinary water park. It was absolutely disgusting. The room was small, there was no way to open a window for air, and the bathroom didn’t even have a fan. At the pool bar, you couldn’t charge orders to your room. You could do that at the restaurant, but its selection was more limited and more expensive. Nobody cleared the table beside the chaise longue or emptied the ashtray, so you had to sit with them as they were. Breakfast was a joke. Arrive after 8:30 and there was nothing left. The staff seemed completely uninterested and barely said hello. I was just glad they didn’t swear at me, except for the pool bar guy. The restaurant was expensive and the food wasn’t great. I ended up spending more time at the unpretentious terrace across from the hotel. The fast food was good, drinks were cheap, service was good, it was quiet, and they always greeted me with a smile.

The room and towels were a letdown. There was a bad smell in the room, two large black cockroaches, and the blanket smelled like unclean feet. Two of the towels also looked yellower than the other pair. On the plus side, it’s in a nice spot, the hotel looks okay, the rooms are spacious, and the pool was great.

I had the worst experience of my life there in winter. The owner shut off the heating and hot water to save money, so I moved to another hotel. Don’t go there or give money to such a greedy person.

We were treated very nicely by the staff. It’s a lovely venue for weddings and other celebrations.
