Pensiunea Casa Impala

The yard is spacious enough for several cars, and the mountain view is good. The food cooked by one of the partners, a chef by profession, is worth trying. The tochitura was especially good. But we went three days without heating or hot water. The radiators felt much too small for such large rooms, and the wood-fired central heating didn’t seem to get attention from the people running the place. Breakfast was a real letdown, honestly a joke. I’d only stay here in summer, and I wouldn’t include breakfast. Check things carefully before you go. All the best.

The guesthouse looks lovely, with a little stream running through the yard. I only got to see it from outside, though. Because of a “mix-up,” I arrived to find that my name wasn’t on the reservation list, even though I had booked. Mr. Cosmin was very kind and clearly sorry about what happened, and my money was refunded, but I was still extremely frustrated. At 8:30 AM I had to go from one guesthouse to another looking for somewhere to stay. My suggestion: call again and again to make sure your booking is confirmed.

The cooked food and scenery were the best parts for me. The guesthouse itself looks quite nice, and it might be better in summer when it’s hot outside. When I stayed there on 14.02.2015, the staff left a lot to be desired. We barely had any heat, hot water felt like a luxury, and cleanliness was lacking. Breakfast was included, but after 09:00 there was hardly anything left. The next morning all we got was bread and cheese. We were told only the cheese remained, as though it were our fault.

We had a dream vacation at Casa Beatrice Bran Guesthouse, formerly Casa Impala, and would definitely come back. It’s right beside the stream, and there are spacious rooms. In the evening, you can sit with friends in the gazebo by the fireplace and chat after a barbecue. I recommend it.
