Ibis Styles Bucharest City Center

The hotel was clean and modern, and about a 25-minute walk from the old town. There aren’t many places to eat or drink nearby, but Dreamers is close and worth a visit. It’s a proper old-school pub, especially if you like Liverpool or darts. We found the hotel breakfast good, and had dinner there one night too. The menu isn’t huge, but the food suited us. The location worked well for the train station, about a 10-minute walk away. We took the train straight from the airport, whose station is about 100 yards from the terminal, and tickets can be bought onboard.

Things had been great until I got back around 10 PM and found the bar already shut. The room minibar was empty as part of the hotel’s concept, so I went to reception to buy water. They said they had none and couldn’t do anything, though cola and beer were available. Having to spend the night without drinking water was really disappointing and unacceptable for a hotel.

The location was perfectly convenient for me. Some reviews call it far from the centre, but it’s about a 15-minute walk to the actual city centre. The hotel was really clean, from the spotless rooms to the well-kept shared areas. Cleanliness clearly matters here. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful throughout, which made my stay even more enjoyable.

The room was clean and the location convenient. The buffet breakfast was average but edible. That’s about the extent of the positives. It was stuffy in both the room and hallway, even though summer hadn’t started, and it made staying there, especially sleeping, uncomfortable. The air conditioning wouldn’t turn on, and the water pressure in the room was weak. Compared with other Ibis hotels I’ve stayed at around Europe, this was the worst. I don’t recommend it.
