The location is the one thing this place has going for it, about a 15-minute walk from the old town center. Everything else was disappointing. Our room wasn't ready at 15.30 p.m. on arrival, and instead of apologizing, the receptionist tried to get us to pay extra for a supposed luxury upgrade or move to another hotel owned by the same person, again for extra money. It felt like a scam. The reception staff were pretty weird, though the women cleaning the rooms were kind and good at their jobs. The rooms are on the second floor of a creepy, dark, dirty, neglected building. I've never seen anything like it. There's no proper hotel entrance, and the building looks ready to collapse. Inside, the rooms have been renovated with a simple black and white design, but the door didn't feel secure, as if someone could open it with some effort. The room was completely unclean: dirty corners, a grimy bathroom glass, hair all over the room, perhaps from previous guests, and bits of glass behind the curtains from something broken. Nobody seemed to have checked there while cleaning. The road was a little noisy, but that was okay. The place didn't feel safe or clean, and the staff made our stay difficult. You can find much better value for money elsewhere.

For the price, the place was decent, clean, with a comfortable bed, TV and WiFi. Our stay was pretty good apart from the water pressure issue. The cold water barely came through, and flushing the toilet could leave no cold water at the tap or shower, which was worrying since the shower isn't thermostatic and could scald you. It seemed to be affected by other outlets outside our room, so you might have to wait in the shower for the cold water to return and balance the temperature. We had no other issues.

The location was convenient for visiting central Bucharest, with a 24-hour supermarket nearby, the Old Town 20 minutes away on foot, and the metro a 10-minute walk. But our room wasn't clean, and Scala Rooms checked us in late, then changed our room because they hadn't cleaned it. The building was dirty and looked ready to collapse, and the staff were strange. We suspect the receptionist took my girlfriend's phone number from our reservation. Around 3.30pm on the last night, someone called her from a concealed number about ten times. When we answered, the caller said her name and then spoke Romanian. It was creepy, especially since he was the only person who had her number.

DON'T BOOK, IT DOESN'T EXIST. We reserved through a major accommodation site in March, but when we got to the address there was no hotel sign and nothing to show the place was there. A huge advertising panel covered the building on the corner, making it impossible to find, and nobody answered the phone for hours. This is 100% no longer a business.

I was stuck here because payment had already been taken before I arrived, and I couldn't switch to somewhere else. The place is just a few rooms on the smelly second floor of an old apartment building, right on a horribly noisy main street. It felt really unsafe, the drains barely worked and the curtains sagged. Terrible for the price, this isn't a proper hotel. Don't even think about it.
