For the views and historic places, this 12th-century Saxon village is a great stop. Consider staying overnight in a local guesthouse.

The courtyard was such a nice place to relax, and breakfast was very good. Our room was beautiful and clean, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. We found this to be one of the most beautiful, unspoiled places to stay in Viscri. I wish we’d had more time there.

The yard ends at the back with a traditionally built barn, and its white river-stone paving was uncovered by local villagers who still know the old home-improvement methods. Across the yard from the large main house is a smaller, old dwelling. Both buildings have been renovated with lovely attention to detail, and they’re furnished with authentic pieces and other old Saxon decorations.

I’ve stayed twice and loved it both times. It’s a charming place right in the heart of Transylvania, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
