Hotel IZVOARE Caciulata

The restaurant could use a rethink. The children’s menu doesn’t allow substitutions: fries come with it, and swapping them for another side means paying full price. At breakfast, the food is buffet style but coffee has to be brought by a waiter, which left us waiting longer than necessary. The staff were polite and clearly trying their best. The hotel itself is centrally located, with plenty of sights within walking distance. Our four person apartment was spacious, the bathroom was clean and well equipped, and the tea, sugar and coffee were replenished daily. The hotel also supplies robes and pool towels. Slippers are provided too, though I’d bring my own. The thermal pool was wonderful and cleaned every day.

It can be pricey, but if you’re comfortable with the cost, the food and service are both top notch. A meal is about 70 RON, burgers cost 43 lei and seemed the best value for the quality, and desserts are 30 lei each. Breakfast is usually included, with a wide buffet selection.

The rooms were just average, and service at reception and from the cleaning staff came with a disappointing attitude. The SPA options are limited: there’s a small outdoor geothermal pool that’s great but gets crowded and isn’t much use in bad weather. Massages are only available before 4.30pm, need to be booked well ahead, and are usually full. The finish sauna also requires an advance appointment. The location is excellent, and the restaurant is excellent too, with a good menu, service, atmosphere, and live music.

I was impressed by my stay from 13th till 15th of October 2024. The mineral water pool, the surroundings, the rooms, and the high standard of breakfast were all very good. The price was reasonable too. Căciulata is a very good spa resort, so I recommend both the hotel and Căciulata.
