The Danube view is outstanding and makes the trip worthwhile. The boat transport was efficient, and the boat trips were nice. It’s a shame that so little, if any, effort seems to go into cleaning the grounds and giving guests basic comfort.

The family warmth comes through in everything here. The hosts were always smiling and did their best to help and make us happy. Alina and Mario, thanks for a wonderful two days! This was my first stay at Marras Resort, and I’ll definitely come back. It’s a cozy, lovely resort with a large terrace, pool, comfortable rooms, and a great location. Everything was very clean, and the area around it was calm and quiet.
The location is gorgeous, with mountain walks and roads to explore on foot, and boat trips available with a very nice guide who shared lots of information. Our rooms had AC, modern bathroom equipment, and were fresh and smelled fine during our stay. We were a family of three adults and three children under nine, and weren’t expecting luxury. We stayed two nights in Marras Resort Dubova Danube river golf, at the entrance of the Danube into Romania. We had two different rooms: couple room C4, with a direct Danube view, cost 350 RON (70 EUR) per night. Big double room B1, with shared access and a view of the Danube Gorge, was 500 RON (100 EUR) per night. The prices seemed high for what the rooms and location offered. The TVs either had no cable signal or didn’t work at all, the Wi-Fi was weak and limited, and bathrooms were missing basics such as towel holders. Some lights didn’t work either, so things seemed to be there just for show. There was no restaurant or chef, only a small, simple breakfast. The pool was dirty, green, and dense like the Danube, and the resort didn’t fix it. With no restaurant and no usable pool, we went to the nearby Mirific instead, where the services and quality were great. Communication about what was actually available was poor. There was a major water supply outage when we arrived, and if we’d known, we would have brought water for ourselves and the kids to freshen up. Some repairs around the property also looked unprofessional and visibly inadequate, as shown in the photos. For my family, this is somewhere to avoid in future unless the services, rooms, and property improve, including the restaurant and pool. There’s clearly been a lot invested in the large Marras Resort, but basic services and quality seem to have been forgotten. If management wants Romanian tourism to reach the level of nearby countries such as Bulgary and Greece, they should take negative reviews seriously and improve the basics so guests don’t only visit once.
The Danube was quite dirty in that area, which is outside the owners’ control. It wasn’t great for fishing, though we still caught a few fish. The resort is still being worked on, but that didn’t take away from our stay. What stood out most was how available and caring the staff and family were. They were friendly, smiling, and clearly cared about their guests. Alina helped arrange our boat and quad bike rides, and was lovely and attentive. Isabela deserves a special mention for making delicious pizza from scratch at a time when the other kitchens nearby were closed. The location and atmosphere were highlights, and the hosts went out of their way to sort out every problem we had, at any hour, with a smile. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Amazing location, and both the staff and owner were very friendly.
