Vila Palace

There was a big parking lot, and the staff were extremely professional and ready to help. The ballroom was really large. I also liked that there were no poles anywhere in the area, so the whole space stayed open for easy movement.

The hotel is quite modern, with clean rooms in good condition and a good size. WiFi worked well, and it was good value for money. It's only a 10 minute walk from the railway station, so handy when travelling to or from Caransebeș, though less convenient for the town centre. The restaurant was the main disappointment. The food wasn't that brilliant, and they didn't give me a drinks list. As a solo traveller, I didn't want a full size bottle of wine, but there was no wine by the glass or in a smaller container. The beer selection was poor too.

Most of the rooms stink, probably because of the toilets, and they're dirty. The fridge in my room hadn't been cleaned at all, it was brown inside and smelled awful. Seriously, people come here to live, not animals.

The staff were helpful, but there was a christening party of 300 guests at the hotel. It went on until 0345, and then people took their time dispersing. I couldn't get a sound night's sleep.
