Pensiunea Piccola Italia

The owners are wonderful and spoil you in every way. Every morning they serve fresh Italian style coffee on the house as an extra treat, and there’s more besides. The rooms are bright, with high ceilings, wood floors, and ensuite bathrooms. Almost all have a little private terrace opening onto the courtyard. Guests can also use a small kitchen and living area. Such a cute place.

The location made it easy to get around Cluj-Napoca, and the couple running Piccola Italia Casa Racoviță were welcoming. When we arrived in the evening, one of them was at the door helping us find a suitable street parking spot. The room was adequate for the price, though it felt a bit unclean and had an odor. We skipped breakfast because there were plenty of good options nearby, and didn't use the free Wi-Fi since it was slow. It was a decent stay, with room to improve, and I'd come back.

The old town is only a short walk away, and parking on the street in front seemed possible. Inside, the room had a small fridge and kettle, and it stayed warm with hot water available even when it was minus 9 outside. The hosts live there and speak English, so arranging arrival time or asking for other things was easy.

The rooms were really clean, but summer heat was a problem since there was only a fan and no air conditioning. One night, loud music from an event a few meters from the terrace was so bad I couldn't hear myself think. I also stepped out at 10 pm without my keys and found the front door locked, so I was locked out. The owners didn't give me a particularly friendly feeling either.
