Hotel Meliss

I wouldn't stay here again. We were in Craiova on business, and parking was already difficult, with so few spaces that we had to leave the car on a side street. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the air conditioning was extremely loud and didn't cool the room. Between the noise and the heat, I barely slept. At check-in, the receptionist seemed visibly annoyed we were there, didn't greet us or ask how the trip had been, and made us feel very unwelcome. At breakfast I said good morning to the staff and was ignored completely, which felt really disrespectful. Then at checkout my colleague, who can be a bit direct, asked to check out early the next morning. The receptionist snapped, saying, “You are not checking out you pay now, you will Check out Tomorrow morning!” It was completely unprofessional. There was no sense of hospitality here. I wouldn't recommend it, there are much better options in Craiova, like Ramada.

The restaurant stood out, with impressive food and service. The waiting room was luxurious, while the rooms were clean and comfortable, if nothing special. The hotel could use a few upgrades, but we still had a very nice experience.

The power was turned off during the night, and our room got really cold. The jacuzzi was cold and dirty, and breakfast was poor and bad. This was the worst hotel I've ever visited. A stay here can ruin your Christmas market experience. Never again, don't make the mistake of staying at Meliss!

The reception staff were rude, and a woman was able to open our room with her card, which made me wonder if every card opens every room. In the middle of the night, there was an electricity problem and we had no light in the bathroom. I think they may have turned the power off on purpose to save money. They didn't provide an extra bed for the kids. The restaurant was awful, they had nothing from the menu and closed at 9. There may be more, but those were enough to make this the worst hotel ever.
