I came to Craiova at Christmas to see the Christmas market, and the hotel’s old-town location was a big plus. Step outside and you’re right in the festive atmosphere. The interior is elegant, my room had what I needed, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the air conditioning was great since there was no heating. The room windows faced the main festive street, so music carried on late and made it noisy. I’m sensitive to smells, and there was a noticeable kitchen odor in the room. I also saw mold on the shower tiles, which needs attention. Most staff were welcoming, though one receptionist was clearly in a bad mood and didn’t hide it. I see that as her personal issue and won’t dwell on it. The restaurant looks lovely and its service was excellent, but vegetarian choices were limited. Breakfast was simple but fine. I’d give the hotel four out of five, the restaurant service five, and two of the reception girls five as well. The third one, less so. My impression is positive, especially with the magical Christmas feeling throughout the city.

The hotel really lives up to its name, Splendid. We had a cozy, clean room, comfortable beds, and friendly, helpful staff. It’s right in the city center beside the Christmas market. There’s no parking at the hotel, but it wasn’t a big problem. A large public underground car park is about four minutes away on foot, and you can reserve a space ahead of time through an app. We’d definitely come back.

4/10
The location is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and breakfast was varied and very good. But the bathroom seriously affected our stay. It hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was visible mold and mildew, and a strong sewage smell made it very uncomfortable to use. With better bathroom cleaning and maintenance, the stay could be much more pleasant. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the needed improvements.

The central location made it easy to explore Craiova, and the rooms were cozy with elegant decor. Service was impeccable. A top-notch, five-star hotel, and I highly recommend it for a perfect stay.
