The meals were great, with most of the food grown there, and the garden is worth seeing. If Ludovic offers you his homemade wine or cognac, try it. The rooms are lovely, with handmade furniture throughout. The owners clearly take pride in their home and made us feel incredibly welcome. We’re almost at the end of two weeks in Romania, and this has easily been my favorite place. Hateg also has its own attractions and makes a handy base for Retezat National Park. I can't say enough about it.

We were a group of four, and the way the owners treated us is why we'd definitely come back. The whole property has a lovely feel, and its creative touches really impressed all of us. The hospitality and rooms were amazing, and the owners are some of the kindest people you'll meet.

The meals were delicious, and much of the food and wine is grown or raised on the property. The flowers and garden are beautiful and kept immaculately. Inside, the furnishings are skillfully made at home, with unique, interesting decor, and the whole place is charming, restful, and spotless. We visited Romania for the first time and couldn't have picked a better place than Casa Vlad. The owners are wonderful, hospitable people who go out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. If you're passing through Hateg, I really can't recommend Casa Vlad enough.

Vlad made the decorations and furniture by hand, and they're really lovely. The hospitality was great, and breakfast was very good, with everything fresh from the farm.
