We went on June 12, and maybe it wasn't summer season yet, but the beach and water were very dirty. The water was full of algae and garbage, literally plastic pieces, paper and rusty nails on the beach, with cardboard and packaging everywhere. This was the beach in front of the Malibu hotel. I don't think cleaning it is their job, but I do think they could push for better conditions through petitions or requests so tourists can be comfortable. We chose this beach because it was less crowded, and the wild beach area in front of Cherhana Pontica Mamaia was more secluded and suited us. The entry into the water was very gradual, which was good for children. But the sand was full of shell pieces that pricked and scratched us, nothing like the fine sand on other beaches. This was definitely our last time on the Romanian coast. The place was poorly maintained, the price didn't match the quality, and the attitude left something to be desired. At least the weather was good and the water warm. Otherwise, disappointing.
