Hostel Alutus

The restaurant was the one good part: the food was good. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, feel far below today’s standards, maybe what was standard 30 years ago. You need extra shoes to use the bathroom because a shower leaves the whole floor covered in at least 5 cm of water. You also need lots of towels to stop it flooding into the bedroom. The beds are small, and the mattress was old and much too soft. At the restaurant, the female waitress should consider another profession. She didn’t know the menu, drinks, or food at all, and forgot half our order. Then came checkout day. My wife had to wash her hair, and a white towel had a few red spots from her hair coloring the week before. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but the receptionist called my wife back to the room and told her she had to pay an extra 50 RON (15 USD) to have the towel washed. Unbelievable. Thank God I wasn’t there for that conversation, or I might have lost my good manners. It was an old, worn towel, not even worth 5 Dollars, and could have been washed at 90 degrees or with bleach. No more to say. Never again at this “hotel”.
