It feels like a well-kept, cozy mountain cabin, with only a few rooms, so it’s peaceful. The place sits at 1000m, as the name suggests, uphill from Sinaia, and makes a good base for getting into the mountains. The price is reasonable for the experience, and there’s a restaurant with decent lunch and dinner options. The staff could be more welcoming and engaging. Breakfast isn’t included, and the restaurant’s breakfast selection is limited, with omelets as the main option.

All five of us ordered different dishes and were very happy with the excellent food. We drove 15 minutes from Sinaia to avoid dealing with parking there, and the trip along Valea Dorului was lovely. The patio has a picturesque view, too.

It’s a lovely place to stay, but a box of rotting apples outside the window and a dog barking all night made it hard to sleep. The room also has poor sound insulation, so you can faintly hear every conversation in neighboring rooms. These things brought down the overall impression, and it would be good if they paid attention to them.

We’d eaten here before and enjoyed the food, so we came back tired from the mountains for the view and meal we expected. But the music was so loud, even out in the parking lot, that we got back in the car and left. We went to the nearby Hanul cu ursi instead, where nobody seemed interested in serving anyone.
