Casa Badea

The fish dishes prepared by the host were a real treat, and the trips Mr. Badea arranged were both enjoyable and packed with information about local plants and wildlife. Casa Badea is run by a committed local family who keep standards high and make guests feel welcome. It's in the charming village of Murighiol and easy to reach by car. I'd love to return.

The boat trip to Letea was a real highlight. We saw wild horses in Letea Forest, Romania's oldest natural reservation, and our guide knew so much about the forest and the local people. He explained that it's a sub-tropical forest, where trees and flowers aren't supposed to grow in sand. On the way, we passed thousands of birds, including hundreds of pelicans, and there were no mosquitoes or bugs. The guided trips on the Danube were great, and the people were very nice. This is the place I'd choose for good food, good rooms, and a knowledgeable guide. I'd recommend it anytime.

The fish dishes here are incredible, the boat tours are good value, and the place is clean, safe, and welcoming for families with children. It's a decent price, too. The family are so friendly and helpful that their saying, "vii musafir, pleci prieten," really does ring true. I'll definitely come back. Thank you, Badea family!

The best part was spending eight hours on John's boat, exploring some of the Danube Delta's wildest, most tucked-away spots. He took us to a beach with fine sand, wild horses, and even wild cows, which I'd never seen before. We stopped for a delicious lunch and spent two hours on the beach. John, the owner of Casa Badea, is an outstanding guide, and people as authentic as him make all the difference. His sweet wife Angi is wonderful too. The accommodation sits among homes belonging to Murighiol locals. The fish soup was generous and delicious, and the fish caviar salad was scrumptious on freshly toasted bread with a glass of chilled Sauvignon blanc. The Danube Delta is Europe's largest in terms of preservation and its range of flowers, trees, and 330 bird species, including pelicans, egrets, swans, ducks, and storks. It's second in size only to the Volga delta. A delightful, unforgettable experience.
