ibis Styles Bucharest Airport

Diana at check-in was cool, and I had a nice Cezar salad in the restaurant. The room was like a typical 3-star Ibis, comfortable enough for a night, but the shower was a hot-and-cold lottery. The breakfast promise was the real letdown. I was told I didn't need to reserve and that something would definitely be ready at 5:10 a.m. There was a banana and a small yoghurt. That wasn't what I expected, and I could have gone to the airport earlier to eat there.

The rooms, beds, and shower are lovely, and the hotel itself is modern. Breakfast is very basic but fine. There's a shuttle back to the airport for a few Euros. They may offer one on arrival too, but getting an Uber was easy and cheap, and saved me calling the hotel and dealing with what would probably be endless choices from an automated bot. It's a nice little hotel close to the airport, though Bucharest's freeway-like roads make the drive less direct than the map suggests. You can end up passing it on the other side, then going about 5 miles to the next junction before doubling back. If you're travelling light and the weather's nice, walking can be nearly as quick, especially in rush hour. Worth the £€$.

We stayed three nights while visiting Therme, and the hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The staff were great, the room had more space than we needed, and the food was good, with an excellent breakfast. Getting to both Therme spa and the airport was easy. Reception can arrange an airport return shuttle for €10. The one small inconvenience was driving back to the hotel: you have to go all the way to the end of the main road and loop back.

We really liked our stay at Ibis Styles Hotel. Lunch was amazing, and our waiter Harry gave us excellent service. The room was very spacious, and being just 5 minutes from the airport was great. Good value for the price, and I'd definitely recommend it.
