Hotel Maria

There isn't really a lobby where you can sit for a while or get a drink, which was the main downside. Otherwise, check-in went smoothly even though we arrived quite late, and there was plenty of parking for our cars as requested. The rooms were spacious, warm and clean.

The room was large, the bed was clean, the staff very friendly, and parking was good. It's close to the city center, and the hotel has real potential. But that bed was awful, noisy whenever I moved, and the mattresses were terrible. Worst sleep I've had this summer. There was nothing in the mini-bar, not even a bottle of water after hours of driving. The bathroom floor could have been cleaner, and the furniture was very old and worn. Just one last night in Ramnicu Valcea!!!

Room 207 smelled like puke, so I switched to 209, where the laundry was stained. Both rooms had marks on the walls, the furniture looked like it was from the 80s, and the wardrobe smelled old inside. The bathroom did seem to have been renovated recently. In August 2020, the room cost 140 lei, plus 20 for breakfast. I left the hotel.

Car trouble meant I had to stop in Ramnicu Valcea, and we found Hotel Maria. We were three adults and two kids, but the only option was a four-person apartment. It was very spacious and clean, with nice, comfortable bedrooms and really big beds. The price was good too, 43 euros per person for everyone. I recommend it.
