At Valea Pinului Guesthouse in Râu Sadului, the hosts, Cristina and Ilie Hanea family, were attentive and welcoming, and the place was exceptionally clean. The traditional food was delicious and carefully prepared. It’s a great choice for families wanting somewhere quiet, beautiful, and authentic, with outdoor activities and excellent service. We enjoyed hiking nearby and breathing the fresh mountain air, then spending the evening by the campfire in the warm atmosphere of the guesthouse. The mountains and greenery all around make the views spectacular, and it’s a lovely spot to relax and reconnect with nature. Sultan horse was a delight to meet, especially for the children, though not only them. Highly recommended.

The food is all homemade by the hosts, made with local products, and very tasty. You can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the guesthouse. The approach is quality over quantity, and the place won’t suit someone with an “I want everything” mindset. There’s a kind of luxury here that’s hard to picture if you’re used to classic Romanian tourism: tasteful modesty, simplicity, and quality, without showy opulence. We arrived in the heart of the mountains, with the river below and the mountain behind the guesthouse. It felt like a fairytale, and the road in was very good from any direction. The rooms were spotless, with high-quality linen and solid wood furniture. Nothing seemed skimped on, which says a lot about the hosts’ values and principles beyond the business itself. The husband and wife work side by side as a great team. Their passion and love for each other and for the guesthouse, almost like a second child, really comes through. Mrs. Cristina served us even at the 12th hour, while the guesthouse was nearly full. She did everything she could to make everyone happy, despite being at a distance and dealing with personal problems. There’s a lot more I could say, but it’s worth experiencing for yourself and making up your own mind. I don’t think we came here by chance, and we certainly left changed in many ways.
