Hotel Coral

A helpful, very polite staff and a hotel that feels well fitted for its star rating make this seem like good value for the money. It’s conveniently placed near the Hungarian border for a night’s break on a journey. There’s a large restaurant, outdoor kiosks, peacocks and white rabbits on the lawn, and a nice collection of trees.

Just after the Petea border in Romania, this hotel has a lovely, breathtaking view. The room was okay, and the restaurant offers a range of traditional dishes. The staff were very kind. I’d recommend it.

The water was cold and the shower pressure so low that it was hard to get a proper bath. That’s especially bad for bathing kids in cold water. The place was very dirty, and the food tasted bad, like it had been reheated several times. Some TVs didn’t work, and the ones that did were set only for Hungarian speakers. They should have Romanian or English at least. I don’t recommend coming here unless you really, really have to.

The only good thing is how close it is to the border. We got a room for two, but only one person’s worth of towels, and when we asked at reception, they said someone would bring more. Nobody came. The first thing I noticed in the room was a really strong weed smell. The shower was dirty, with black hair in the drain, and the walls were disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this place under any circumstances. I guess being near the border makes it popular, so they don’t feel the need to improve anything.
