Hotel Dana

The food and service were good, and the price seemed reasonable. There was air conditioning in the room and a modestly stocked fridge. The hotel grounds are lovely, with a swimming pool, and the large marquee made it a great spot for a wedding blessing and reception. One drawback was having no lift. In the heat, climbing three flights of stairs was hard work.

We only stayed one night, and the staff were really kind, helpful, and polite. Given how many short-stay guests the hotel gets and its position beside a main road, we weren't expecting a cleaner room for a three-star place. Breakfast was good ;-)

We came for a friend's wedding, and the stay turned into a nightmare. On Friday a pool party started behind the hotel, right by the side our room faced. The music began at 10 at night and carried on until 7 Saturday morning. My wife had a nervous breakdown and started crying. We grabbed a pillow and blanket, drove a couple of kilometres away, and slept in the car for a few hours. The bathroom ventilation brought in a smell of fried oil. The breakfast buffet looked as if they'd put out food that should have been thrown away. We arrived Thursday and everything had been fine until the party. The next day the manager wasn't available to discuss it. We'll never come back or recommend the place to anyone.

The staff were friendly, and for a transit hotel it was fine overall, with prices that are hard to judge. There's an outdoor pool, which is a plus for me, though I didn't have time to use it. The front-facing rooms get some traffic noise and light. I don't mind it myself, but people who have trouble sleeping in that kind of setting should know. They could also pay more attention to cleaning.
